About the Artwork
A summer kimono with bold and rhythmic diamond and pine patterns dyed in various directions. I was able to create this design thanks to the nagaita chugata method, where the patterns are placed on the front and back sides of the fabric and glue for resist dyeing is applied. The soft and cool texture of cotton gauze is highly recommended for both men and women.

Techniques Used
Nagaita chūgata
While Edo komon consists of fine designs applied to silk, nagaita chūgata (“long-board medium-pattern”) fabrics are made by applying larger designs to cotton for yukata (informal summer kimono) using a long board of about 6.5 meters.
