About the Artwork
I wanted to decorate the entire basket with flowers in full bloom and made this piece. I put an old cloth (a plain indigo-dyed cotton cloth) inside of the box. I finished it as a treasure box to store precious things inside, but it can also be used as a food container. Please use the red wickerwork board inside when using as a food container.

Plaited bamboo
Plaited bamboo basketry (amimono) is created by weaving together hundreds of strips of bamboo into patterns known as plaiting (ami). Various patterns and shapes can be created by using bamboo strips of different widths or thicknesses. The many styles of plaiting utilize bamboo’s pliability to produce beautifully patterned works.
