Comment on Award

I created this piece to express the weeds and grass on the roadside where I always walk at the beginning of fall after a long hot summer.
On the top of the dome shaped cover, I designed the grass to look as if they were seen from above, on the sides, to look as if they were seen from the side, and the bottom of vessel to look as if they were growing towards the middle. I took great care to make the grass look natural and connected to one another.
Sandblasting is slightly carving the case glass with polishing sand to create a color gradation and depth. I want to challenge the limits of what I can express with this technique, and express the beauty and fun of the plants in glass to describe my own unique world of plants.
