ARTISTS & ARTWORKS RELATED ”Hagi ware”
Hagi Ware (Hagi yaki) is a kind of ceramic ware mainly produced in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. A Korean potter opened the Hagi ware kiln in the beginning of the Edo period. Its tea ceremony vessels are very famous. Made of highly absorbent clay and soft colored glaze, the color of the vessel changes as it is used. This is called "Hagi no Nanabake" (seven changes of Hagi ware). Its rustic earthiness and warm texture are also attractive.
