Modern Beauty Created Through Joinery

Woodwork artist Makoto Igarashi creates his artwork using traditional joinery techniques where wooden boards are assembled without using metal nails. His artworks, using precise and exquisite joinery techniques with finishing touches to maximize the beauty of the wood grain and color, are highly evaluated, and he received the New Artist Award at the 68th Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition in 2021. His simple and beautiful vessels and furniture harmonize with our modern lifestyle, and are gathering much attention as works creating a rich and comfortable atmosphere.
