Biography
- 1969Born in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture
- 1975Studied ceramics under her father, MATSUO Muzo (Aged 6)
- 1993Graduated from the Faculty of Literature at the Fukuoka Women’s University (acquired the Senior High School Teaching License)
- 1995Studied textiles under TORISU Mizuko, an artist who has received the Medal with Purple Ribbon
- 1997Selected for the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition
- 2005Selected for the Japanese Crafts Exhibition (2005, 2007, 2009)
- 2006Jury member at the Fukuoka Senior Art Exhibition
- 2007Qualified as one of the 30 Selected Ceramic Artists in Western Japan (Her works exhibited at the Kyushu National Museum)

Style
MATSUO’s production is characterized by her broad-ranging style and works, from simple traditional glazes through to the ornate and modern. In her contemporary pieces she uses such techniques as neriage (marbling), kinsai (painting in overglaze gold¬), and saidei (painting on clay).
She is also a much admired flower artist, especially among young women, and creates many ceramic pieces with floral motifs such as roses or cherry tree leaves.
