About the Artwork
As weaving 2 or 3 bamboo strips becomes a flat weave most of the time, I thought how I could create a three-dimensional weave and came up with a weaving method where multiple bamboo strips are pressed and one strip is picked up. This has become my original weaving method that nobody has ever done before, and I call it the "mofumofu (fluffy) weave". I was able to make a three dimensional weave by making the bamboo strips used vertically thicker than the others, narrowing the gaps of the weave, and picking up the bamboo strip deeply.

Plaited bamboo
Plaited bamboo basketry (amimono) is created by weaving together hundreds of strips of bamboo into patterns known as plaiting (ami). Various patterns and shapes can be created by using bamboo strips of different widths or thicknesses. The many styles of plaiting utilize bamboo’s pliability to produce beautifully patterned works.
