About the Artwork
Tray of Japanese cypress wood made with wood joinery techniques. Hemp cloth is used on the entire base of the makie. Decorated with gold powder, mother-of-pearl inlay, eggshells and gold and silver sheets etc. Roiro finish. Submitted to the Ishikawa Contemporary Arts Exhibition in 2024.

Techniques Used
Maki-e
Maki-e (literally “sprinkled pictures”) is a representative lacquerware technique that originated in Japan around 1,200 years ago.
