I often listen to classical rakugo while working. The light and witty talk of the storyteller and the lightheartedness of the characters in the story are absolutely pleasant. I felt the smartness that Japanese people today are beginning to forget in the rakugo, and tried to express such smartness rhythmically with color lacquer and the texture of the carvings. I would like to continue creating lacquer art without fearing to take on new challenges.
