Yamanaka Lacquerware (Yamanaka shikki) is a lacquerware produced in the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture with a history of approximately 400 years. It is known for its beautiful wooden base formed on a turning lathe. Using high-level techniques such as the stripe carving technique and gorgeous decorations, a wide variety of vessels from traditional to modern lacquerware are made.
