Koishiwara Ware (Koishiwara yaki) is a kind of ceramic ware produced in the Koishiwara region of Toho Town in Fukuoka Prefecture. Its production started in the early Edo period. It is known for its geometric patterns called tobikanna (chattered patterns) and the hakeme (brush patterns) made using the potter's wheel, and for its rustic and warm texture. Even today, Koishiwara Ware is used and loved widely as everyday utensils.
