My creation process begins with a single silkworm, with the aid of natural power from plants. Studying under the late natural dye artist Akihiko Izukura, I acquired dyeing and weaving techniques including "weaving," "braiding," "netting," and "interlacing." Utilizing these techniques, I wish to convey the charm of expression that can only be done by hand through free ideas, inspired by the scenery of the four seasons. Currently, I am working on a Leno weave technique called ra-ori, which is said to have originated in ancient China BC. Studying traditional techniques with few weavers today, I spend my days thinking of ancient times, facing and continuing to explore materials.
