About the Artist
Breathing Life Into Metal, Art Form of the Next Generation
Metalwork artist Miku Nagai creates artwork by harmonizing the strength of the material with elegant decorativeness using traditional metalwork techniques such as heat welding to join different types of metal, and inlaying different types of metal onto the surface of the base metal. She was awarded two years in a row at the Metalwork Traditional Kōgei Exhibition, where works ranging from Living National Treasures to up-and-coming young artists are gathered. With her sophisticated designs and precise and reliable techniques, she continues to make great strides as a talented young artist to lead the future of metalwork.
