Tomoko Misaki

I love plants and often think of my designs from my sketches.
I want to cherish my encounter with "Kaga Inlay" and make the most of all the precious things that I've learned to create artwork that can move people's hearts.

  • 1978 Graduated from Kanazawa College of Art, Japanese Painting Course
  • 1979 Studied under Kaga Yuzen artists Jinro and Kenji Maida
  • 1984 Started helping with family business, Kaga makie
  • 2004 Joined the Kanazawa City Kaga Inlay Specialized School (6 years)
    Studied under Mamoru Nakagawa, Kodo Murakami and Tensei Sakai
  • 2010 Selected for the Kanazawa Craft Exhibition (selected several times from this year onward)
  • 2013 Submitted to the Ishikawa Traditional Kōgei Exhibition (– 2020)
    Selected for the Kogei World Competition in Kanazawa (2016)
  • 2014 Selected for the Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
  • 2016 Selected for the Metalwork Traditional Kōgei Exhibition (– 2022)

  • 2004Received the Incentive Award at the Design Exhibition Ishikawa (lacquer art)
  • 2008Received the Special Judge Kenji Ekuan Award at the Ishikawa International Urushi Exhibition (lacquer art)
  • 2022Received the Soukeikai Award at the Kanazawa Craft Exhibition (metalwork)
