I create my pottery using the "wariire" technique* which I developed myself, and the nerikomi technique **which I learned from my master, Eiji Murofushi. * The "wariire" technique is making cracks in the clay before firing on purpose, and using them as a part of the design. Usually cracks can be a critical defect, but I took advantage of this and used this for the design. We won't know how the cracks will come out or how the colored clay will turn out to be until it comes out of the kiln. As I use the purposely made cracks as patterns, I named this the "wariire (making cracks)" technique. ** The nerikomi technique is a technique to knead in different colored clays to make patterns.
