About the Artwork
A flower vase with a simple form.
I carved out clay from the rim towards the middle of the body, inlayed blue clay and added thin lines of white and black clay. After biscuit firing, I added dots of jade green clay on the blue clay with a brush. I also added lines of white glaze one by one to make line patterns.
The combination and colors of the unglazed parts and the handwork of inlays, line patterns and dots are a good balance. It is a good-sized vase with a modern design.

Inlay ceramics
Inlay (zōgan) ceramics are created by making incisions on the surface of a piece which are then filled with a differently colored clay to create a design. After the clay is inlaid, a glaze is applied and the piece is completed upon firing.
