Mainly producing porcelain. Being charmed by the colors of the rivers in Azumino, Nagano where I grew up, I mainly produce seihakuji (pale blue porcelain). I use styluses and bamboo sticks that I make myself to carve patterns to detail. The shape of the vessel is also very important to me.

I formed the body of the water jar on a potter's wheel, dried it and carved the star magnolia design.
After coloring, I fired it, applied a thin layer of glaze, and fired it again. I made the lid separately.

Porcelain underglaze painting
Porcelain underglaze painting (saiji) is achieved by applying colored underglaze decorations to porcelain. The vessel is then coated with a transparent glaze and fired. White porcelain is used to emphasize the painted motifs.
