About the Artwork
A cotton thread kimono that has been dyed with aya indigo. The indigo is a natural dye that has been fermented through mixing with wood lye.
The technique of kasuri weaving is incorporated with each design having a spacing pattern of 65 centimeters.

InstructionsWrap the piece in tatoushi (kimono keeping paper). Store the kimono in a place which is not directly exposed to light.
If displayed, also place it in a place where the light does not hit the kimono directly.
Techniques Used
Kasuri weaving
Kasuri weaving (kasuriori, “blurred weave”) is a type of ikat weaving done with threads that have been resist dyed, leaving sections of the thread undyed. The threads are then aligned and woven to create stripes, checkered patterns, or pictorial motifs.
