About the Artwork

I made an arabesque flower decoration by inlaying tin on black persimmon, used tortoiseshell with gold leaf on the back side for the center of the flower, and inlaid this on Jindai zelkova wood.
I also inlaid flowers made of tortoiseshell with gold leaf on the back side of the cover, and colored the ivory knob with patina.
I tried using curved flower designs on this wood joinery piece with many straight lines.
With respect to our predecessors in the Western Regions of China where the arabesque flowers came from, I named this piece "Admiring the West".
