Flower Vessel of Varying Colors "Waterfall"

About the Artwork

I dyed the surface of the triangular bamboo strips using a technique called saihenge meaning "varying colors", and assembled the parts made with these triangular bamboo strips to make a three-dimensional form. I made this piece with the image of a "waterfall". This waterfall is not just a streak of water running down, but a large waterfall where several lines of water are flowing down, such as the Shiraito Falls in Japan, or the Niagara Falls or Iguazu Falls overseas. I wanted to express a waterfall like these in this sharp form.
