Comment on Award
I am very honored to receive the Japan Kōgei Association President Award. I was fascinated by the magnificent sight of a wisteria trellis that I saw a few years ago, and I was vaguely thinking of expressing the swaying, long, blooming flower clusters in my artwork. After much trial and error, I think I have been able to make a three-dimensional design close to the actual wisteria flowers. In order to show the flower patterns more clearly, I shaped the glass into a square and polished it.
I will continue to create each piece of my artwork carefully to live up to this award.
