About the Artwork
While valuing the material and techniques of Kutani ware, I made the most of the coarse grained, slightly gray Kutani clay and created a soft texture and neutral color by firing several times. The monochrome design with metal decorations is an unusual design for Kutani ware. I sketched plants and traced some lines from the inside to make arc shaped patterns and placed them to look like flowing water. I also added geometric patterns using platinum and gold. I hope you enjoy the white space and flowing patterns in this vessel.
