InstructionsDo not leave water inside as the kettle will rust, and the water will become cloudy.
If you are not using the boiled water right away, move the water to an insulated jug or thermos bottle and dry the iron kettle with residual heat.
Never heat the kettle without water. As pig iron is extremely delicate, the kettle will crack.
When boiling water, slightly shift the lid to let the steam escape.
Techniques Used
Sectioned mold casting
In sectioned mold casting (komegata) a plaster mold is taken from a clay model. The mold is then covered with clay to produce an outer mold, followed by a slightly smaller inner mold.
