About the Artwork
When I saw the mountains and the river that looked completely different after the Noto Peninsula earthquake, I felt the obligation to create this piece right away.
Noto is still beautiful nevertheless. The sun continues to rise and set every day.

Techniques Used
Chinkin
For chinkin (“sunken gold”), a chisel or knife is used to incise lines and dots into a lacquered surface. Gold leaf or fine gold powder is then inlaid into the grooves, creating a fine and delicate design.
