When I come into an impasse while working on my textiles, I sometimes start weeding my garden. It's a nice change of pace because you can see the results right away just by putting your hands to work without thinking. The transparent light green color of the familiar weeds suddenly caught my eye, and I thought of making a kimono using this color. I used the sukuiori technique within the kome weave to make the most of the light green color. By repeating this subtraction, I was able to create a minimal composition.
On receiving this award, I am determined to continue working hard in the world of textiles.
