Embossing
Embossing, or metal chasing (uchidashi), is the process of using punches to raise designs on metal by repeatedly hammering the face or back of a piece (the latter technique being known as “repoussage”). Embossed work can take the shape of highly pronounced three-dimensional forms or shallow reliefs like those seen on brooches and ornaments for kimono obi.

Comment on Award
I made the base of this piece a while ago, but I was unable to decide on the design and left it sitting around for a while. However, I became sick and started to feel that I can't wait any longer. And despite having a surgery last year, I was able to create the largest vase in my career, which made me go forward to finally start making this piece.
I had a rough idea on which techniques I would be using, but I didn't fix the image of the design and tried to express different worlds on the front and back side of the flower vase using dynamic lines that I thought were beautiful. There are many points to reflect on, but I have no regrets about what I produced.
I will continue to put my soul in each and every one of my creations to always make "the latest masterpiece". Thank you very much for this award.
