ARTISTS & ARTWORKS RELATED ”Hanasaka pottery stone”
Hanasaka pottery stone (hanasaka toseki), mined in Ishikawa prefecture, is the raw material for Kutani Ware. This stone triggered the revival of Kutani Ware after the production was ceased for approximately 100 years. As the stone is rich in iron, it becomes a slightly bluish white after it is fired. It is cohesive and is easy to form on the potter's wheel.
