Hideko Kuki

Style

By applying silver or gold leaf that is 0.3 – 0.4 microns thick on the base glaze and firing, the silver / gold leaf is torn into pieces as the base or glaze expands, creating an unexpected, complicated pattern. I use this as the base to make wired cloisonne. By combining transparent glaze and translucent glaze with the patterned base, I can make a unique three-dimensional piece.

  Invited to submit to the International Biennial - The Art of Enamel in Limoges (France)

  Studied under Yoshiichi Hayakawa (Judge and Evaluator of the Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition)
  Selected for the Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition, selected 22 times from this year onward
• 1987
  Becomes Full Member of the Japan Kōgei Association
• 1997
