Chikako Fujimaki

Style

I produce textiles that make people feel as if they are wearing the sky or sea by weaving simple, soft-colored thin threads dyed with plants.

Biography

• 1980
  Born in Yamanashi Prefecture
• 2000
  Entered the Otsuka Textile Design Technical School, Textile Dyeing Department (current Waseda International Business College Textile Design Course)
• 2002
  Entered the Otsuka Textile Design Technical School, Textile Dyeing Graduate Course
  Tsumugi kimono "Connection Between the Sky, Clouds and Stars" selected for the 17th All Japan Dyed Textiles Exhibition sponsored by the Silk Museum
• 2003
  Graduated from the Otsuka Textile Design Technical School, Textile Dyeing Graduate Course
  Returned to Yamanashi and starts making textiles
• 2006
  Tsumugi kimono "Umi no Kokyu (Breathing of the Sea)" selected for the 46th East Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
• 2008
  Tsumugi kimono "Shuko no Hana (Autumn Splendor)" selected fot the 20th All Japan Dyed Textiles Exhibition sponsored by the Silk Museum
• 2009
  Tsumugi kimono "Awayuki (Light Snow)" selected for the 49th East Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
• 2012
  Tsumugi kimono "Kosai (Luster)" selected for the 52nd East Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
• 2020
  Tsumugi kimono "Haru no Sora (Spring Sky)" selected for the 60th East Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
